Summer Lodge Country House Hotel

As a proud member of Relais and Châteaux, Summer Lodge, Country House Hotel, England is the epitome of their five C’s – providing Courtesy, Charm, Character, Calm and Cuisine. Summer Lodge is, quite simply, the place to be.  Evershot is a sleepy little village with rows of thatched cottages.  Take a stroll through and imagine times gone by with a much deserved stop off in the local pub; The Acorn Inn which is featured in Thomas Hardy’s famous novel, Tess of the d’Urbervilles as “The Sow and Acorn”.

Accommodation at the Summer Lodge, Dorset is exceptional with 20 bedrooms, 2 one bedroom suites and 2 two bedroom suites.  Each room at the 4 star English Country House Hotel is individually decorated and comes complete with the latest in state of the art technology including large plasma screen TV and DVD, air conditioning, Satellite TV and High Speed Wireless Internet access.

Rooms and suites are not only available in the Main House but also in the Coach House which feature their own conservatory or balcony overlooking the pool and spa area, as well as in one of our 3 cottages including the romantic Ivy Cottage which is perfect for honeymooners.

Room One, our Master Bedroom was originally designed by Thomas Hardy himself and offers a magnificent open fireplace and overlooks the perfectly manicured English country gardens that frame the house beautifully.

Sample the culinary delights of the 3 AA Rosette award-winning restaurant, offering seasonal menus and the finest in wines to tempt your taste buds.  Our Fine Dining Restaurant is also extremely proud to have received two highly coveted nominations in the prestigious Tatler 2005 Restaurant Awards for Best Sommelier (Eric Zwiebel) and Best Out of Town Restaurant!  The American magazine, ‘Wine Spectator’ has again awarded Summer Lodge with a ‘Best of Award of Excellence’ for 2006, stating Summer Lodge has one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.

Leisure facilities at Summer Lodge are aplenty.  Pamper yourself in our mini-spa where you can take a sauna after a dip in the heated indoor pool or even a massage or facial if you prefer. Pick one our spa packages and experience a day of luxurious pampering. Alternatively, you might want to take a work out in our well equipped gym and pump some iron.

Tucked away in the Dorset countryside there are many outdoor activites to enjoy such as cycling, horse-riding, country walks, fishing and more.  For those interested in arts and crafts, needlecraft and antiques, there are some interesting shops and suppliers in the surrounding area.

The grounds of the hotel offer beautiful gardens where you can relax in a hammock in fine weather, a croquet lawn as well as an all-weather tennis court to improve your game on.

Author Thomas Hardy could not have imagined a better setting for Summer Lodge — in fact, he helped design the hotel during his architecture days. In the glorious Dorset countryside, you’ll appreciate the view of ivy-clad cottages and winding lanes from any of 24 quaint guestrooms, suites and cottages. Each offers plush bathrobes, homemade shortbread, flat-screen televisions and Wi-Fi access. Enjoy the landscaped gardens and the croquet lawn outside, or the health spa and heated swimming pool inside.
